Sales Development Program

Are you a team player, willing to learn a business from the ground up? Are you seeking opportunities for growth, without having to relocate?

Hajoca’s Sales and Leadership Development Program is an accelerated track to a long-term career in Sales or Operational Leadership at Profit Centers across the country.

We are seeking candidates that can bring the “4 E’s” to the table: Work Ethic, Effort, Energy, and doing Extra. If you demonstrate those traits, we will help coach you through learning our business. We do not require industry experience or knowledge, just the right soft skills and willingness to learn. We will teach you the rest!

Overview

The Sales and Leadership Development Program offers entry-level, high potential candidates a hands-on mentorship experience, and the opportunity to learn our business from the ground up. Once you enroll in this program, you will rotate through key areas of the business in order to help determine your long-term fit in Sales or Operations.

  • Provide face-to-face, best-in-class customer service
  • Build relationships with industry experts and homeowners
  • Develop deep product knowledge
  • Learn industry-specific computer programs
  • Administration (cash/check handling, invoicing, and billing)
  • Work with Residential, Commercial, and Repair/Remodel Contractors
  • Shadow Showroom and Outside Sales
  • Vendor Product Knowledge Sessions

Inside Sales

  • Pricing and Margin Management
  • Bids, Quotes and Submittals
  • Product Procurement
  • Job Scheduling
  • Develop Vendor Relationships
  • Joint Sales Calls with Outside Salespeople

No development plan will be exactly the same for any of our trainees. Time spent in each phase may vary depending upon your skills, experience, and needs of the business. One thing that remains consistent is that you will be given every opportunity to meet and exceed your own expectations along the way!

During the final phase, there will be an in-depth career discussion with your Profit Center Manager (PCM) to determine if you are interested in pursuing a career in Sales or Operations. We provide the freedom to live into your dream by matching your passion, skill set, and long-term goals with the needs of our business.

Our goal is not just to develop strong teammates, but future leaders who will serve as Key Business Partners to the Profit Center Manager, helping them run the business and achieve their goals.

Trainees will work with a team while progressing through three phases of training covering all aspects of operations, counter sales, and inside sales. Profit Center Managers, teammates, and customers will guide you through your world-class training experience, offering a wealth of knowledge in each of these areas.

We offer an Individualized Approach

Hajoca’s decentralized business model allows each location to run independently and each team has its own unique culture and dynamic. Likewise, our training programs are structured but individualized depending on your strengths and abilities, the needs of the business, size of your team, and the dynamics of the local market. For example, in a large Profit Center, teammates’ roles are likely to be more focused and specialized; In a small Profit Center, teammates have their hands in all aspects of the business, working cross-functionally on a daily basis. Throughout the program, there will be regular touchpoints with your PCM regarding your individual progress and career trajectory. As your appetite for learning changes, you will have the opportunity to work with your PCM to ensure that you are challenged daily.

Candidate Profile

To join our Sales and Leadership Development Program, candidates must possess:

  • High school diploma
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership, sales, operations, or customer service role (through work, school, or extracurricular activities)
  • Ability to quickly adapt and react to changes within the work environment
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred qualifications include:

  • 4-year college degree
  • Industry-specific experience and/or product knowledge (Plumbing, Industrial, HVAC, Pool and Waterworks Supplies).

I joined Hajoca in October 2017 and coming to work here, I had no knowledge of the plumbing business. Through great training opportunities and working with the most knowledgeable people in the business, I still do not consider myself an expert, but I know a lot more than I have ever known. One thing I admire about Hajoca is that if you invest your time in them, they will invest in you! Everyone in this company takes the time out of their busy days to make sure that any questions you have are answered. Before joining Hajoca, I was a Head Start Teacher in the Columbia, MD area. Some people ask ‘Why make that switch?’ My answer: I wanted a career with growth opportunities. I started in the warehouse learning the fittings, receiving, and shipping. After about 6 months, I moved into inside sales and have been here ever since. I am still learning new things every day and want to make my way to outside sales.

I currently live in Baltimore City and luckily, my commute is not too bad. I love hanging out with my friends, spending my weekends at the pool or at the gym. I am a huge Capitals fan and even got to kiss the Stanley Cup after the Caps Victory! C-A-P-S CAPS! CAPS! CAPS

My name is Travis Earnshaw. I am 28 years old. My wife Holly and I have a baby boy, Benji. I grew up in/around different aspects of construction and worked as a superintendent for a GC in Richmond, Va before coming to Hajoca. I am an active member of my church and I enjoy playing softball and spending time at the lake.

My buddy came to Hajoca before me and told me about the Sales Trainee Program. At the time I was working long hours and weekends in new construction and wanted to find a long-term career that would afford me the ability to earn a good living and have more time to spend with my family. My experience at Hajoca has been great. Within 14 months I started in the warehouse and moved quickly to the counter, then inside sales, and I am now an outside salesman. I foresee Hajoca being my-long term career that will provide me a good living and a job that I can enjoy getting up for every day.

Hello! My name is Brad Renn. I am a sales trainee for Hajoca Corporation in Richmond, VA, a devoted father to my little boy, and a huge New York Giants fan. Football season is my favorite time of the year, but I enjoy watching all sports year-round. Before coming to Hajoca, I was a District Manager for Verizon Wireless. While working in the wireless industry I realized I had a passion for sales. Becoming a new father made me realize I wanted to work for a company that could become my lifelong career. My father, who is a long-time outside salesman for Hajoca, told me about the Sales Trainee Program. I decided to join the team and begin my journey.

When I started with Hajoca I spent my first 6 months in the warehouse. During that time, I was able to learn about the products that Hajoca offers. I also began learning how the company operates and runs its business. Once I completed the warehouse portion of the program, I moved into Counter Sales. The counter is where I have been able to learn how the products are utilized by our customers and grow my knowledge of Hajoca’s operations and business even further. I look forward to using this knowledge, as well as my extensive experience in customer service and sales, to take the next step of becoming an inside salesman.
